Idris I, full name Idris bin Muhammad as-Senussi, was born on March 12, 1889 in Jaghbub, Libya. As the emir of the Senussians, he acted as a decisive religious leader. 1951. on December 24, Libya became an independent kingdom and Idris I became the ruler of the country. At that time, the United Kingdom of Libya was founded. Queen Fátima's full name was Fátimat al-Sanúsi, Queen of Libya, and her husband was King Idris I of Libya. In 1954, significant oil reserves were discovered in Libya, as a result of which state revenues increased. The country suddenly became rich, but the oil wealth was concentrated in the hands of the king and the elite, which irritated the population. In the 1950s, the ideas of Arab nationalism and Nasserism spread in North Africa and the Middle East. These had an impact on Libya's internal conditions. 1969. On September 1, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi carried out a military coup in Libya, as a result of which a military dictatorship was established in the country. Idris I resigned and was succeeded for a short time by Crown Prince Sayyid Hassan ar-Rida al-Mahdi al-Sanussi. Idris I finally died in exile in Egypt. Lately, it has been suggested that his distant relative, Crown Prince Mohammed al-Senussi, could be the king of post-revolutionary Libya. In many ways, Idris's life was decisive in the history of Libya.
